Standing like a tree

Standing like a tree, in Chinese Zhan Zhuang, it is a unique Qigong Exercise system, Pronouced Jan Jong or Jam Jong Depending where you come from in China, This exercise has been a well kept secret and it was only in the mid 1940s that it has been taught,and it was in 1987 that a Master Lam Kam Chuen introduced it to the western world.

It is normal for Chinese People to practice Tai Chi in the Parks or Woodlands near to where they live but if you look more closely amongst all this movement there is a remarkable site there are some figures that will catch your attention they are as still as the trees that surround them, Living and breathing Tghey are engaged in one of the ost powerful and demanding exercises that has been developed, These still Figures are utterly Focused on Deep internal growth,

In its simplest form you stand in a posture maintaining complete relaxation and a clear mind, this posture does not resemble a tree, it is the standing still connecting Heaven and Earth that is tree like.

It is extremely hard to stand completely still for a period of time especially when your arms are held out as though you are hugging a very large ball. So it is important to start with a couple of minutes and progress standing longer with maybe a minuet a day or with what ever you feel comfortable with,

The art of this exercise to create relaxation in the limbs that ache and As you get better you will learn that it is only your tension that makes you ache and relaxing is the only option to get through it.

Whilst holding the position you will eventually experience tingling in your arms and through your hands as you achieve circulation of chi, Soon you will be able to feel this chi flow down the front of your body, underneath and back up your back, over the top of your head and down your front again. When you feel this sensation you will have achieved Small Circulation of your chi. You will soon be able to channel your chi down your legs and into the ground too, your solesof your feet will feel very warm, Sometimes hot, . So whilst you appear still on the outside There is a lot happening on the inside of your body there is a lot of internal activity,and it is a wonderful feeling.
